ASC 606 / IFRS 15 Core Engine

Allocates contract value across performance obligations, recognises revenue on the correct schedule, and handles contract modifications the way your auditor expects. Without a single manual journal entry.
๐Ÿ“

SSP allocation

Allocates contract value across performance obligations using standalone selling price. The foundation of compliant multi-element arrangements.

๐Ÿ”„

Modification accounting

Distinguishes prospective vs cumulative catch-up treatment automatically based on the nature of the contract change.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ

Milestone recognition

Multi-milestone POs are recognised obligation-by-obligation as work is completed. Never booked all upfront.

๐Ÿ“Š

Deferred revenue waterfall

An auto-updating schedule shows recognized vs deferred revenue at any point in time, for any contract or cohort.

5 scenarios Fincelo handles natively

ScenarioStandard treatment
Multi-element arrangementsSSP-based allocation across performance obligations
Contract modificationsProspective vs cumulative catch-up, determined automatically
Milestone billingRecognition tied to performance completion, not invoice date
Variable considerationConstrained estimate with quarterly true-up
Material rightsIdentified in the contract and allocated separately
๐Ÿ”

Period Close, 3-Path Resolution

Materiality-based close logic decides whether a backdated entry needs a simple post, a split treatment, or a full reopen with dual approval, and checks GSTR-1 conflicts only when it actually matters.
A

Immaterial, post to current

Entries below the materiality threshold (typically under 10% of period revenue) post directly to the current period. No friction for small adjustments.

B

Split treatment

Borderline entries split between current and prior period, with CFO visibility but no blocking approval.

C

Reopen with dual approval

Material entries trigger prior-period reopening, requiring CFO and Controller sign-off before the books move.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

GSTR-1 conflict check, Path C only

Only Path C checks whether the prior period's GSTR-1 has already been filed. Paths A and B never trigger this check, because the materiality threshold means they can't create a compliance conflict.

The 3 paths in detail

A< 10% of period revenueNoneNo
BBorderlineCFO notifiedNo
C> 10% of period revenueCFO + ControllerYes, only if prior period GSTR-1 already filed

FX Treatment Engine

IAS 21 and ASC 830 compliant foreign currency handling for multi-currency contracts, recognition, remeasurement, and gain/loss reporting handled automatically.
๐Ÿ“…

Locked invoice rate

The RBI reference rate is locked at the invoice date for GST compliance, and stored permanently against that document.

๐Ÿ”

Period-end remeasurement

Monetary balances are remeasured at the period-end spot rate automatically. No manual FX journal entries.

๐Ÿ“Š

FX gain/loss report

Realized and unrealized FX gain/loss broken out by customer and currency, ready for your finance review.

๐ŸŒ

Multi-currency books

INR statutory books are maintained alongside functional currency reporting, side by side.

Churn & Contraction

ARR and revenue recognition are kept fully independent. Six distinct scenarios, from no-refund churn to mid-bundle module removal, each handled with the correct accounting treatment.
View A

No refund issued

Revenue continues to be recognised through the original contract end date, even after the customer has cancelled.

View B

Refund issued

Revenue recognition stops at the termination date, and a credit note is issued for the unused period.

๐Ÿค–

AI clause scan

Scans the contract for no-refund clauses and suggests the correct view. The CFO always makes the final call, logged with name and timestamp.

๐Ÿ“ฆ

Bundle contraction

Module removal from a bundle triggers SSP reallocation across the remaining modules automatically.

6 churn and contraction scenarios

ScenarioTreatment
Full churn, no refundRevenue continues to original contract end date
Full churn, with refundRevenue stops at termination date, credit note issued
Partial seat reductionRecorded in a separate contraction ARR bucket
Module removal from bundleSSP reallocation across remaining modules
Mid-term downgradePro-rated recognition adjustment from the effective date
Non-renewalARR decrements on the actual contract end date

AI Agents at work here

This module doesn't just record data, Fincelo's autonomous AI agents act on it every day, without anyone pressing a button.
๐Ÿ“… Period Close Agent

Resolves period close conflicts

Auto-classifies every recognition catch-up into Path A, B, or C, checks GSTR-1 filed-return status before reopening a closed period, and routes for CFO/Controller approval where required.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Revenue Anomaly Agent

Flags recognition drift before close

Continuously compares recognized revenue against contract schedules and FX-adjusted forecasts, surfacing anomalies days before month-end instead of during the audit.
